New Era Calls for New Generations of Educated Leaders

TELACU and its Partners Prepare Youth to Build a Prosperous Future for America
In a global marketplace strained by heightening economic challenges, America has a powerful incentive for building a highly competitive workforce that will continue to fuel our economy and revitalize our communities. From the Oval Office to the boardrooms of leading corporations, top decision makers are coming to realize what TELACU recognized early on—that the “stimulus” our economy needs can be found in our nation’s single greatest asset, our young people.

“Our Return on Investment grows exponentially when we invest in human capital—developing and preparing our youth for the new challenges of this 21st century,” says David C. Lizárraga, Founder & Chairman of the TELACU Education Foundation. “As today’s leaders, we have the responsibility to empower our young men and women with the educational opportunity they need to succeed in the emerging marketplace. Ultimately, we are helping ensure continued prosperity for them, their families and our entire nation.”

Recent studies reveal that 90% of our nation’s fastest growing jobs require a postsecondary degree. However, in the case of the nation’s largest and fastest growing minority, only one in ten Hispanic adults has a college degree. And less than 40% of young Hispanic adults even have a high school diploma.

For over 25 years, the TELACU Education Foundation (TEF) has taken this challenge head on by ensuring the educational success of many thousands of Latino young people—the first in their families to pursue higher education. Recognizing that academic achievement requires much more than financial assistance alone, TEF combines important financial resources with highly effective programs that prepare students for success in higher education and, ultimately, in diverse careers across all sectors of society.

From college preparation to academic guidance and mentorship, the Foundation’s programs and services annually support 600 college students and serve 2,000 middle and high school students, nursing students, and veterans. Together with its vast network of partners, TEF has reached levels of achievement that no other institution of its kind has been able to duplicate: a full 100% of TELACU high school Scholars earn their diploma and go on to postsecondary education. And 100% of TELACU college Scholars earn their degree, ready and eager to contribute to a skilled, competitive workforce.

In this era of new leadership and extraordinary opportunity for our nation, TEF and its partners will continue to provide new generations with the tools they need for the highest levels of service, empowerment, advancement, and the creation of self-sufficiency.
