Although Weijie had very little academic guidance at home, he graduated with high honors and an impressive GPA over 4.2! He credits much of this success to the support he received from TELACU’s Talent Search High School Program and MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement). Intrigued by the applications of data science in addressing issues from education and the environment to health care and biology, he plans to pursue at minimum a Master’s degree to launch a career in analytics. His work on Capstone projects such as an AI-Driven SQL Database Tool, Google Local Review Recommender System, and Interactive Data Visualization  Algorithm, has given him the opportunity to practice and refine his impressive technical skills. Currently a Software Developer Intern at Green Optics Films and a Data Infrastructure Engineer at Boundary Remote Sensing Systems, he shares his experience and knowledge as a tutor and as an Instructional Assistant through UC San Diego’s Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute.
