Opening Doors of Opportunity
The Veterans Upward Bound Program (VUB) empowers veterans to pursue a college education. VUB helps veterans smoothly transition into college-level courses and successfully navigate the college enrollment process. Veterans can take advantage of FREE college prep classes in Computer Science, English, Mathematics, Typing, Foreign Languages, and Science. VUB is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Eligibility Criteria
- Low-income or first-generation college-bound
- Other than a dishonorable discharge
- Completed a minimum of 180 days of active service
- Reservist having completed a minimum of 30 days of active service
2021 Class Schedule
Winter 2021: January 25, 2021 – March 5, 2021
Spring 2021: April 19, 2021 – May 28, 2021
Summer 2021: July 12, 2021 – August 20, 2021
The Veterans Upward Bound Program is designed to meet the needs of your personal schedule, and you can take as many classes as you like within the time frame listed. English, Mathematics and Computer Science courses are all one-hour classes taught virtually by experienced instructors. Typing, Foreign Languages, and Science are self-paced, web-based courses and can be taken any time Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. All new students must attend the New Student Orientation (details below).
New Student Orientation
All new students must attend orientation. You will receive an overview of the Program, meet fellow VUB participants, complete the application process, and receive one-on-one educational counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and receive an assessment of your current academic standing. Remember—all of these services are FREE! The Veterans Upward Bound Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education TRiO Programs.
